It's the most wonderful time of the year. The time when you buckle down and write like a mad person. The time when every free moment (and some not-so-free moments) are given up to writing lopsided prose and out of the blue characters. The time when Twitter and the NaNo forum blows up with writing sprints. The time when participants of NaNoWriMo pledge to write 50,000 words in 30 days. The time when I'm hopping up and down in my seat and can't think straight and checking up with James to make sure the outline is good.
It's a dive into madness, and I'm ready for the plunge.
James (my brother) asked for a story for his birthday (!) and gave me a quick description of it, and now I'm taking the chance to write it in a month (he's just going to have to put up with a mostly unedited draft since his birthday's eighteen days after NaNo ends) and I'm thrilled to get started on it. I've tweaked the idea until it's something I adore, and now I'm vigorously working on last minute outlining. I'll be honest, I didn't know what I was going to write for this month until I sat down a few hours ago and started writing about it, and somehow ended up outlining this story. And now I can't wait.
In other news, my twitter account won't let me tweet (Keeps saying my tweets appear to be automated. Help?) So I unfortunately had to take a break from #OctWritingChallenge. But if you write, you should totally go check them out and join in, because they're the bomb diggity.
Also, go join NaNoWriMo, if you haven't already been persuaded to by my excessive praise of it. It is also the bomb diggity. You won't be sorry.
